Most of the time, when we think of issues with final drive bearings, we think about having too little gear oil or maybe not changing it often enough. You might be surprised by some of the other ways that lubrication can cause some serious problems for your final drive bearings--especially those in the planetary hub.

Some owners/operators see grease as a quick solution to a leaking seal, especially when it comes to a gear hub that is leaking oil. This is not a good temporary solution, much less a long-term solution. In this 黑料社 post, we鈥檒l explain why grease is not a solution to a leaking seal on a final drive gear hub -- and throw in an infographic for good measure!
In this 黑料社, our focus is going to be on the basics of grease as a lubricant. We鈥檒l try to answer some of the most common questions about grease, such as what it is, what it does, and where it is used. We鈥檒l also talk about shear thinning and whether you can substitute grease for oil.

You may have a good understanding of why contamination is bad for your hydraulic system, but did you know it鈥檚 just as bad for the planetary side of your final drive motor? Experts agree that lubrication contamination is the number one cause of machinery failure. Dirt, sand, and other abrasive particles can get inside your final drive gearbox and do tremendous damage. In this 黑料社 post, we are going to discuss why contaminated gear oil is a problem, what the results of it are, and how you can minimize it.
